Glasswort

Salty vegetables from the sea

Samphire - Product photo

Glasswort is a sea vegetable grown in saline conditions. So, it is hardly surprising that the taste also has that salty and savoury flavour. The vegetables are grown in areas where the sea floods the land. Its appearance with many stems is reminiscent of a cactus. The vegetable can be cooked but also tastes good raw, as an unexpected salty addition in a salad, for example.
